Sytnyk informed that his family did not receive money for the land plot in occupied Crimea

On November 15, 2018, 1+1 TV channel reported that wife of NABU director Artem Sytnyk allegedly received money for selling a land plot in Crimea and paid taxes to Russia, which illegally occupied the peninsula. Sytnyk also allegedly had failed to submit this information in his e-declaration. The channel stated that according to Kholodnytsky the Prosecutor General’s Office started a criminal proceeding on this.

NABU director commented on the allegation in his interview for theBabel. Sytnyk stated that he would continue to submit this land plot in his declaration, because according to the Law of Ukraine, it was not sold and they did not receive money for it.

Sytnyk’s wife Anna owned four hundred square meters in resort zone Vyazovyi Gai in Nakhimov district, Sevastopil. Sytnyk explained that in January 2015, before his appointment, he and his wife understood that they would not be able to go to Crimea and take care of the land plot.

“Therefore, my wife made the power of attorney at the Ukrainian notary on the name of her acquaintance, so that she would be able to manage the land. In January 2015, I gave my consent as a spouse. After that no legally significant actions have been committed by me or my wife until now”, said Sytnyk.

He pointed out that since that time his wife had not controlled the land in Crimea. However, the director of the NABU stated that he would continue to submit this land plot in his declaration, because according to the Law of Ukraine, it was not sold and they did not receive money for it. “I submitted it and I will submit this land plot in my declaration until the time it will be re-registered according to the Law of Ukraine, because it is not sold according to the Law of Ukraine. Neither I nor my wife received income from the sale of this land plot since 2015. I do not exclude that after the sale of this land plot according to the Law of Ukraine and receiving income from it, this will be reflected in the declaration. So far, neither this nor the other has happened”, said Sytnyk.
