Parliament’s Candidate for NABU Auditor Yanovska Wins Competition for New Supreme Court

Oleksandra Yanovska, a leading Parliament’s candidate for the position of NABU auditor, is recommended for appointment as the Supreme Court judge. Yanovska is on the list of 120 finalists, which was announced by the High Qualification Commission of Judges on July 28 and then forwarded to the High Council of Justice.

On July 13 the Parliament voted for NABU auditor but Yanovska got only 216 votes (out of 226 necessary).

According to the Law on NABU an acting judge is not eligible for appointment as NABU auditor, therefore as soon as her candidacy is approved by the High Council of Justice and the President of Ukraine, she may not be considered for this position anymore.
