New attack: Prosecutor General’s Office keeps putting pressure on NABU
After having disrupted NABU’s undercover operation last week, insults on NABU were going on. Yuriy Lutsenko, who was supposed to participate in the Global Forum on Asset Recovery 2017 (GFAR), cancelled his participation on the last minute. On the eve before the GFAR Lutsenko accused FBI for working illegally with NABU.
In the meantime, Poroshenko’s Bloc decided to conduct on December 5 a closed hearing in the Rada on recent events with participation of heads of NABU, SAPO, PGO and SBU. The hearings were later re-oriented on Saakashvili’s case, which, from our perspective, was brought specifically on that timing in order to generate massive headlines in the attempt to distract everybody’s attention from a massive attack on the independence of the NABU. NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and SAP head Nazar Kholodntskyi were called by Lutsenko to leave immediately GFAR in Washington and attend a hearing in parliament.
Though on December 6 Sytnyk & Kholodnytskyi did not manage to get back from GFAR, Lutsenko reported on NABU in the Parliament, complaining about NABU’s alleged grave and numerous violations of the law and working beyond the legislation. He accused Sytnyk in illegal activity without giving any evidences and stressed that the latter should be punished.
Attacks on NABU staff go on: scandalous deputy Prosecutor General Yuriy Stolyarchuk handed notices of suspicion to two NABU secret agents in the case of migration service corruption. We expect other attacks to follow very soon. More details.
