Presidential candidate Zelenskyi fully supports the High Anti-corruption Court
On January 30, 2019, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine registered Volodymyr Zelenskyi as a candidate for the position of the President of Ukraine. It is very important that one of the key promises of Zelenskyi included in the program is to fully support the work of anti-corruption bodies (for instance, National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine and Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecution) and the newly established but not yet functioning High Anti-corruption Court.
The program states the following “The newly established anti-corruption bodies and the High Anti-corruption Court will receive maximum state support for the effective fulfilment of their tasks.”
This means that the candidate Zelenskyi fully supports the work anti-corruption infrastructure which was established during 2014-2018. He promises to give them the necessary resources and state support to promptly achieve the results in their pursuit to fight corruption.
Currently, the High Anti-corruption Court is in the process of selection of judges with the participation of the international experts in the selection commissions. It is planned that the selected judges would be sworn into office We hope that prior the launch of its work the issue of the court’s jurisdiction will be resolved in order to eliminate redundant caseload of minor corruption cases.
