AntAC stopped ‘siphoning’ of 23 million UAH

During July 2018 the AntAC has achieved termination of seven contracts of public procurements. NGO prevented misappropriation of public funds amounting to 23 million UAH.

Four of seven public procurements contracts were terminated since one of the sides was a company blacklisted by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for violation of competition on public bids. According to the national legislation, a company cannot be a participant of public procurements for three years, if it was sanctioned for bid-rigging. However, it turned out that companies deliberately filed false information for taking part in the tenders on purchase of technical equipment, plant protection products, payment for hot water pipes and heating in Kyiv by issuing forged certificates. Thus, more than 8 million UAH were intended to be transferred to the companies, illegally taking part in the competition.

Another 15 million UAH were wished to be torn down on repair of the Heavenly Hundred garden in Lviv region, where legal documents were not brought into conformity with public procurement conditions; on building of a gym in Ternopil region by brothers’ companies and on reconstruction of the Town Council in Lviv region by sole-proprietor companies.

However, AntAC lawyers managed to reveal all these anti-competitive actions and achieved termination of the contracts, thus saving this money to the Ukrainian budget.
