Immovable property registry

Until 2015, information on immovable property ownership was closed from the public; owners and authorised state bodies alone had access. This caused existence of a ‘black market’ in information about property owners’ rights, threatened the ability to protect these rights, created the space for corruption and concealment of property by public officials. From 2015, the Registry of rights to immovable property is open and accessible, albeit, for a fee, while the search can be conducted by address or name of owner.
